The Recording Idiots Association of America

There’s something inherently funny about seeing people that actually paid for online music getting locked out of their collection because the DRM license server is getting shut down. And it’s not a fly-by-night company either! Don’t pirate music, buy our crippled stuff instead! Your music files have to phone home every time you listen to them, just to make sure you’re legit, but we’ll never shut those servers down… promise! And if we do, we’ll bury the information on how to get your files to work again, as opposed to just unlocking them, because, well, that’d be too easy, and we certainly can’t give you what you paid for. How would we get you to buy them again?

This isn’t the first time either. And the RIAA wonders why everyone pirates music! For the record, Amazon sells completely free and clear MP3’s for about a buck apiece, and they always have specials on albums. I’ve actually bought a couple of b-sides for various bands, and the MP3’s are fine, fully tagged, and I’ve copied and moved them around with no problems. THIS IS THE WAY TO GO, MR RECORDING INDUSTRY MAN!

Check Baby Check

By Woopop | September 25, 2008 1:31 pm

Build Workbench? Check.
Re-arrange garage? Check.
Run extension cord for the big power strip on the workbench? Check.
run CAT5 for the garage computer? Check.
String up 2nd shop light over workbench? Check.
New power supply, processor (a whopping 1Ghz P3! $10!!), and USB card for the server? Check.
2nd hard drive for server coming back from RMA today? Check.

The current round of projects are almost done.

4 games to go, and the Mets are making everyone sweat. Ya Gotta Believe!

Go Bills! Go Sabres!

The new MySpace Music site isn’t too bad. They have a lot more streaming music now. Still a lot they don’t have though. (How about all the bands putting their b-sides up that you can’t buy/get in North America, or have to buy 5273854 different copies to get? I’m looking at you, every band on the face of the planet.)

All I Wanted Was A Pepsi…

“I’M NOT CRAZY, YOU’RE THE ONE WHO’S CRAZY!!”

I just flipped on VH1 Classic in time to catch the video for Suicidal Tendencies’ “Institutionalized”, which was awesome. I still remember seeing Beavis and Butthead dissect this video, and them pretty much loving it :)

The family party was a [cue Borat] “Great Success!” yesterday, and we had way more food than we needed. Everyone left happy and stuffed, and I didn’t burn the burgers this time! Yay!

Most of Saturday was spent in preparation for the party, cleaning up the outside of the house, and since we pulled the stumps, we threw down some patchmaster and we’re gonna see if we can grow some grass. It came out OK the last time we did this on the side of the house, so it should look pretty decent.

Jamey Gets It, Why Can’t Everyone Else?

By Woopop | May 28, 2008 10:48 am

From an interview in Miami, Hatebreed’s Jamey Jasta hits the nail on the head, in reference to heavy music:

It’s all aggressive music, you know? It’s people that overthink it on the Internet and stuff who make that there’s all this separation. But there really isn’t. But once you get out to the show and see kids in a shirt and talk to the kids, you realize that just because there’s four guys posting ten times each, it’s not reality, you know? There’s not as much separation as everyone thinks.

Jamey, you are soooooooooo not metal/hardcore/extreme. Way to sell out. Or something. :)
