As you well know, the situation and setting is a big part of a) having a good time at a show. and b) liking or disliking a particular set from a particular band. Long story short, seeing a band "in their own element" goes a long way towards forming a realistic opinion about them! How did he open for 311? That makes no sense whatsoever. It's almost like asking for it! Reminds me of the band that opened for NIN in Toronto this past time, Deerhunter was *not* the right opener. At all. For sure! While I found them quite talented, I never got into their show... mostly because I was waiting for Korn (woodstock), OLP and Staind (radio show) or 311. the last time was a shame though, because it wasn't a big festival or radio show, and he is NOT the right opener for a band that energetic. Unless you're more of a 420 style 311 fan of course. Sounds like your experience was way more appropriate! I’ve seen G love a few times, though never on purpose (always as an opener).
