The Big Comedown

There was a week back there somewhere…
After the sheer awesomeness that was the Philly trip, I had the foresight to take Monday off. I puttered around the house a bit, mowed the lawn, and I also rewired the garage lighting situation a bit. I yanked the two incandescent bulb sockets in favor of outlets, so I could get fluorescent shop lights in there instead. The trick was creating one unswitched outlet in anticipation of getting the garage door opener installed, and also tying in the floodlights over the garage onto the unswitched leg. This actually eliminated one of the two switches in the garage, which is pretty cool (I had it taped “always on” anyway).
Tuesday was pretty uneventful back at work, and at volleyball we got humbled a bit, dropping all three games, but we got better game by game. It’s a little different when you’re playing real competition vs people that have no idea what’s going on. Hey, we’re still playing .500 ball!
Wednesday Tiff was out of town for the day for work, so left to my own devices, like an addict, I went to the dealer to get a hit… Hello Record Archive! :)
Thursday was a planned activity… Thursday In The Square! Matt and I both got out of work early, we met at the house, and rolled out to downtown Buffalo where Adam met us. Beers, food, and awesome peoplewatching later, Mike Doughty and his bandmate/sidekick “Scrap” come out on stage as last-minute headliners (Martin Sexton, the real headliner, canceled) and gave us a great show. Not only did Adam’s neighbor/landlady show up with a bunch of her friends, but we ended up next to Ryan from More Than Me, so I shot the shit with him for awhile also. Good times… good times! Adam dragged us to Mohawk Place after Doughty was over, and they had a band inside and a band outside. One dirty water dog and an OV later (they actually sell OV, unbelievable! It’s pretty much the Canadian equivalent to PBR.) A fun night indeed!
Yesterday I watched the Mets pound the crap out of the Yankees in the first game of their split-stadium doubleheader, and then after coming home and running around with Tiff a bit, I watched the Yankees return the favor at Shea in the nightcap. We had a low-key night, and since it’s supposed to rain all weekend, looks like the whole weekend will be chill. Niiiiiiiiiiiiice.
