Weekend Odds and Ends

While wondering whatever happened to my weeknights… (oh yeah, playoffs! Playoffs?! PLAYOFFS!??!)
Friday night was hockey watching, after our requisite Moe’s trip for dinner. Saturday I got outside early and completely cleaned both cars, inside and out, before running some errands in the afternoon and making a detour to Record Archive. The Archive was super-busy due to it being “National Record Store Day”, and thus their excuse for the Grand Opening of the new location (just down the street from the old location). After coming home and chilling for a little bit, we picked up Alyssa and trucked out to Fairport to meet Matt and Lisa for dinner. We hit up a neat little place on the canal called “Whatcha Got Cookin?”. It’s one of the few places I’ve seen that has fried bologna on the menu, and it was damn good! We followed Matt and Lisa back to their place for some smoke-filled pyromania (read: firepit!) Sunday was a trip to the Waterloo Outlets so Tiff could get her shopping on. Then more hockey to watch.
Last night? Watched hockey. Tonight? Two game 7′s!!! The Caps refuse to roll over (my new boy Ovie finally woke up and scored two in the third period!), and the Sharks and Flames will beat the ever living crap out of each other after that’s over. Can’t wait! I’m actually surprised at how interested I am in the playoffs this year, considering neither the Sabres nor Lightning made it. Guess I can’t stay away from plain ol’ great playoff hockey.
There’s a proposal in the NY State Senate to *finally* change the exit numbers on all the Interstates to mileage-based from the whatever-the-hell-we-feel-like-today-based system. I’ve always wondered why NY wasn’t numbered this way, but I guess I shouldn’t, considering, ya know, it makes sense!

In unrelated news: expect an increase in tolls to pay for the new signage.

In other unrelated news: Maybe we won’t need a toll increase because we can use the extra money we save from NOT changing the Peace Bridge to a nice attractive design because it will KILL BIRDS that are apparently too dumb to fly UNDER or AROUND the bridge.

Whoa, did *not* hear about that one. What a crock of shit!
Reminds me of RIT not being able to expand their parking lots in front of CIMS because it was “protected wetlands”. Of course, they just did it anyway :)
