Review: Trent is on his own now, and his first fruits of labor sans-record label is the 36 track instrumental opus Ghosts. Broken down into four parts, the tracks, titled by number only, are reminicent of the instrumentals from The Fragile and Year Zero (and much of the remixes from the last three albums), and also conjure thoughts of the Still disc. Which is to say, they’re pretty damn good. Two hours worth of instrumentals is hard to take all at one time, but broken up into the four chunks, they’re all quite good. Ghosts III is my favorite so far.

It bears mentioning that along with having no record label, Trent marketed and distributed this on the Internet as well, giving Ghosts I (tracks 1-9) away for free, and making the entire thing available as a purchaseable download for $5, well in advance of the physical CD actually being released. His approach appears to have worked.
