This is the show that started it all for me. I had just gotten Naveed and Clumsy a couple of weeks prior to the announcement of the show, and the guys didnt disappoint me. The opener, Puzzle Gut, was a punk band. Seemed a little out of place, and no one really seemed to get into them much. I do recall one song with a chorus of “I like the cow”, whatever the hell that was supposed to mean. Their bass player kept giving my friend Christine scary looks. Cool For August were a 5 piece from the Atlanta area, and their bass player was originally in Fear Factory! The band was fairly interesting, the lead singer was a Peter Murphy clone, and at one point attempted a stage dive… where no one caught him! They sounded pretty good though, and I liked them enough to eventually pick up their CD. But then it was OLP time! They opened with Supersattellite and never looked back. Once Raine hit the high notes in Car Crash, I was sold on this band. Mike lost his guitar in the beginning of Clumsy, so they let the crowd sing 2/3 of the song, then got Mike plugged in and did the whole song again. It was at this show that I bought the OLP “sun shirt” that I wore to every OLP show since then. Best of all, I acutally have a tape bootleg of this show! Complete Setlist: Supersattelite, Naveed, Big Dumb Rocket, Superman’s Dead, Car Crash, Automatic Flowers, Carnival, 4am, Clumsy (twice), Let You Down, Shaking, Starseed, Tomorrow Never Knows
