Review: The boys from the south are back! Alpha rocks harder than anything since self-titled and Home, and the writing has progressed to match. All of the songs were pretty much written lyrically by Morgan, dealing with everything from his divorce, to his dad’s jail time, to his own jail time, and everything in-between. It comes off sounding a bit more mature than some of the other songs he’s contributed to in the past (Enemy comes to mind). Sonny Mayo has been fully integrated into the band, and it shows in a much more cohesive album than Next was. It’s hard to pick any favorites off of this because they’re all good, but I’m leaning towards Clueless, Driven, Beg To Differ, and Aggression as my standouts.
