Review: Technically the fifth release from the band (I guess The Other Side doesn’t count), IV is your typical Godsmack album, but with a bit of a twist. They actually branched out a bit, some more acoustic guitars here, a harmonica line (in Shine Down) there, and you can tell that Shannon Larkin is doing something on the skins, as the drumming is better. It’s almost like they didn’t want to sound exactly the same for the fourth album in a row. And it worked, as this is easily their best album so far. However, you can obviously tell it’s Godsmack, so if you like them, you’ll like this. If not, even though they made some strides, this probably won’t change your mind any. Speak, Shine Down, and No Rest For the Wicked are my favorites. Also has a hidden song, “I Thought”.
